Training Introduction

Training is vitally important for all volunteers, trustees and staff because we recognise that we may be dealing with some of the most vulnerable children and young people.  Camp has to be the best experience they can have and we all have a duty to work hard, with knowledge and understanding to make it so.  We appreciate that actually taking part in camp brings in the best learning and teaching experience.  But no-one can afford not to be prepared for this. The various stakeholders in Reality and our work expect it – referrers, parents and carers, families, children and young people, funders, various regulatory bodies to which we are accountable, your team members and the Reality staff and Trustees.

This is a simple-to-use means of making sure that you have worked your way through the Volunteers Manual and relevant Policies and Procedures (link here for policies) to help to prepare you for camp.  Even if you have been to a number of camps, we would ask you to join in and complete these 10 sessions over the next 20 weeks.

Each fortnightly session should take between 30 and 45 minutes.  Please read the particular passages as set out, think about what they are saying and then compose your answer to upload onto the Forum Discussion pages of the Volunteers Section of the website. Once you have logged in, please indicate who you are as this will enable us and the team leaders to make sure that all their team have been taking part.

In addition, as there will be no ‘marking’ or other measurement involved, we have set this up to be a forum for you to converse and comment on others replies and answers.  We want you to talk together about these matters and situation which you will probably have to deal with at camp.  Best be prepared.
