Below is a selection of comments gathered from young people,
parents, carers and social workers about their experience of
using Reality Adventure Works' services:
“ ****** has Asperger’s syndrome and doesn’t have a social network – regular weekends with
Reality give him real enjoyment and build his confidence. He says he loves it.”
(Parent).
“It was so nice to see him bring home some certificates, mentioning his perseverence and IT
skills. His self-esteem has been quite low, and Reality has definitely helped with that,
thank you.”
(Parent of week-long camper)
“ ****** has had a real opportunity to ‘shine’ and present the person that he is capable of
demonstrating. He is not the most academic of individuals therefore he didn’t really get
the opportunity to shine in an educational setting – but he has in a practical way with Reality.
He has also been able to take advice and give it to other young people regarding conflict
situations or disputes (with which) he has frequently struggled himself.”

“ ****** has been fortunate enough to secure a place on the junior leaders’ training programme.
Since he started this there has been a significant reducation in the amount of offences that
he has committed in the community. Furthermore, the programme has helped to develop
positive life skills such as leadership, planning, taking responsibility, being accountable
and looking after other young people. ****** really enjoys his time on the programme.”
