You might be asking, "What is an Adventure Break?" and "How does it help the young people who go on them?"

To answer the first question...an Adventure Break can be a week-long, a weekend or a day outing. These breaks are held at centres around Scotland and have all the necessary facilities and trained and licenced staff to do the activities that we do. These might include:

  • Kayaking
  • Canoeing
  • Rock and/or Wall Climbing
  • High and/or Low Ropes Courses
  • Gorge Walking
  • Archery
  • Orienteering
  • Abseiling
  • Mountain Biking
  • Swimming
  • Raft Building and Sailing

While this isn't an exhaustive list, it does give you an idea of some of the activities you might do on a break. Don't worry if you have never done any of them before. You will be trained and supervised by fully qualified centre staff.

Now for your second question...these Adventure Breaks allow the young people who go on them to learn valuable skills they can apply to their lives such as teamwork, how to handle difficult situations, and to learn to believe in themselves. We often hear from parents and social workers that young people came back from an adventure break as different people in a very positive way.
